WOOMERA RESERVE

Public BBQ

Woomera Reserve spreads across several hectares off Bunnerong Road in Little Bay, functioning primarily as an off-leash dog park. The reserve features substantial open grass areas bordered by mature trees and native plantings, with a natural stormwater creek running through the site that provides visual interest and some noise buffering from the adjacent road. Three sides have proper fencing, though dogs need reasonable recall as it's not completely enclosed. A cricket pitch occupies a central section, used by local clubs during the warmer months. The playground includes standard equipment suitable for primary school ages, and there's a basketball half-court nearby. The landscaping creates distinct zones, open areas for running, shaded sections under established trees, and the creek corridor with its vegetation. Parking is available along Bunnerong Road. The reserve lacks toilet facilities, which becomes relevant for longer visits. The combination of sports infrastructure and dog-friendly open space makes it popular with locals who often combine dog exercise with letting kids burn energy. The site handles its dual purpose reasonably well, though weekends can see both the cricket pitch and dog areas getting busy simultaneously.
